Dreamy. Captivating. Fulfillment. Three words to describe my experience visiting media sites in Baguio City. In the middle of this year, an enchanting memory made its way into my core. I never imagined being able to fulfill one of my dreams during my childhood.
Third of July 2023, all probable interns of the BA Communication program at Saint Louis University are required to join the media site visit in DZWT and PTV CAR. We all gathered up in the school to be oriented by our professors and department head. It was a bright sunny day, a good sign to kick off that morning. When we arrived at DZWT, it was just a quaint building beside Baguio Cathedral. The environment that surrounds it is serene and calm, but even in silence, you can hear and feel how DZWT Station has built its good foundation. As we made our way down to wait for further instructions, we were called by groups and instructed to choose four members to be part of the radio program Kumpletos Rekados with Aling Rosa. We were having difficulty choosing the 4 spokespersons of our group as the majority of us are not Ilokano speakers, but as our group was called to go to the radio booth, I was one of the four members to represent our group. Being in a radio station for the first time caused mayhem in my body, but I was also excited and experiencing butterflies in my stomach.
We all four enjoyed the interview with Aling Rosa and were able to respond to all of her inquiries. We left DZWT with a grateful heart and a collection of special memories. As we bid our goodbyes, this is not the end and, sooner or later, we can return as professionals in our industry.
Heating it up in the afternoon, we were scheduled to visit PTV CAR near Wright Park and the Mansion. I've always dreamed of seeing a broadcasting station like ABS CBN and GMA during my childhood. In our province, Pangasinan, our town is just near the regional station of GMA, Balitang Amianan. Still, unfortunately, I never had the chance to step into their station to visit. As we entered the building, it was like a dream come true. I saw big cameras, many monitors, and green-screened studios, and I had the chance to watch their news program live. It was rewarding to get a glimpse of their history and witness how the broadcasting industry works. All of their staff welcomed us warmly and were excited for us to be part of their company. The news anchors were compassionate in sharing their knowledge of how their job works, and we could have a photo with one of them. Such encounters have a way of impacting us for a long time. When a child's dreams come true, it's remarkable and a tribute to the power of seizing possibilities and turning them into reality.
